Seminar Highlights

2016 Spring Seminar and Annual Meeting

Held in Rock Springs, Wyoming

The Legal Assistants of Wyoming held its 2016 Spring Seminar and Annual Meeting in Rock Springs, Wyoming on April 29th & 30th.  It was a great seminar full of educational material and lots of fun.  Unbeknownst to the Board, the hotel was also hosting a Women's Expo that weekend so attendees had plenty of entertainment!

During our Annual Meeting, the board has the privilege of presenting awards to our members.  This year we presented a new award, the Outstanding Member Award.  Please see the presentation below:

"Our Members are so important to us, and so special!  Everyday, there are individuals representing our organization by helping co-workers, continuing their education, helping students and mentoring individuals through our Paralegal Pal Mentoring Program or on the Courthouse steps.  We want to hear about these members in your community!!  Legal Assistants of Wyoming would love to provide recognition for the selfless acts and award outstanding members with recognition of publication on the website and in the newsletter, along with a plaque to memorialize their hard work!

This year, we would like to honor an outstanding member who has taken her duties as a Regional Director and gone above and beyond.  This individual has provided so much support and professionalism, she has inspired the creation of this award!!

Virg Bodyfelt has done an incredible job representing Legal Assistants in Wyoming during the last year.  Virg has headed the Newsletter Committee this year and has substantially improved the quality of our Newsletter.  Not only does she have an incredible ability to create a professional newsletter, she has fantastic starter ideas for anyone looking to write an article.  She has encouraged all board members to improve the quality of the article they provide in our newsletter, and our membership has noticed!  Her publication skills haven’t ended there.  Virg has been creating extra flyers regarding the seminar, the seminar brochures, and she created information postcards she sent out to several firms and agencies in the Rock Springs area to bring awareness about Legal Assistants of Wyoming.  In addition, she has been extremely helpful in planning the Spring Seminar including securing speakers, gathering goodie bags, developing a list of needs for the local charity, etc. Virg always appears at the monthly board meetings ready to give quality feedback and offer useful suggestions.  She is always willing to help in any way she can, and has proven to be an incredible asset to Legal Assistants of Wyoming.

We would like to thank Virg for all her hard work and assistance; we are a better organization with you in it! "

A huge congratulations to Virg who unfortunately could not attend the seminar - she is a great asset to this organization and we as a board would love to hear about other members who are making a difference!

In addition to the Making a Difference Award, we also have the privilege of handing out our Student Awards.  This year's recipients include Annette Sause, pictured below, who received the Outstanding Student Award and Jennifer Moffit who received the CP Attainment Award.  We are so proud of both of these young professionals and wish them the best in their future careers!

It was a fantastic seminar overall and we are excited to head to Jackson, Wyoming on October 7th & 8th.
